From Egilsstadir to Akureyri is a very special ride. It is like riding through an alien landscape. Winding roads that take you through magnificent valleys with volcanic rocks, mountains and striking light fall over the landscape. Around every corner you get jawbreaking surprises. 

We did a small detour to visit the Dettifoss waterfalls which is also a nice hike between hours riding. An enormous water mass leaving you soaked in a few minutes. Despite the hostile rocky landscapes brightly coloured flowers are spotted everywhere. 

Last stop in between was a very bad smell of rotten eggs but a nice sight. Geysir fields and mud pools. You realize here that the earth is so active and moving under the surface.
