From Höfn we drove north along various fjords to Egilsstadir. Dramatic landscapes but a lot of strong wind. Gusts of wind bashing in to you after rounding fjords is tricky to ride. Just before we arrived in Egilsstadir we drove through a 6 km tunnel. Which was welcome to warm up because temperature gets pretty chilly. I am so happy with my heated grips which I really use a lot during this trip.
Part of the road was unpaved and so began my first “off-road” steps. At first I was pretty tensed but it goes way better if you try to have a loose grip, lean back, lighten your seat by lifting yourself a little bit on the footpegs when encountering a hole. Most important thing is letting the bike search its path and keep the throttle open.
